About the Summit

The Small Housing Summit was SHBC’s first industry event. The first Summit was held in Vancouver in November 2018. Two-hundred delegates from over 40 municipalities in BC attended, making it a great success! Knowledge-sharing and education are big priorities for SHBC, and we hope to continue engaging with cross-sectors for years to come. Below is the original copy on the Summit. If you have any educational or speaking opportunities on small housing, please reach out. Note: We anticipate throwing more events and doing another Summit in 2022. Stay tuned!

The Summit is an opportunity to bring the province’s top thinkers together to go beyond talking and do small housing across BC. No more siloed conversations, the Summit gathers senior-level professionals in one room from various sectors—design, industry, finance, real estate, policy, outreach and government—to see how smaller forms have succeeded in other places, and how we can collaborate to accelerate their uptake in our own backyard. The Small Housing Summit is organized by SHBC and funded by the Real Estate Foundation of BC. Its project partners are the City of Maple Ridge, City of Nelson, UBC Sauder School of Business/Real Estate Division, BC Tiny House Collective, Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association and the BC Non-Profit Housing Association (NEW!).
